First Families Move Into New Homes In Hingham

Abel Homes Hingham keys handover sm

Two young couples have received the keys to their neighbouring brand new homes in Hingham – the first to move in to a development of 88 new homes in the town.

Abel Homes managing director Paul LeGrice welcomed new neighbours Ashley and Natasha Peters and their three-year-old son Joseph, and Jamie and Sarah Wilson, who are expecting their first child in November, with champagne and their keys at the firm’s The Hops site in Hingham.

The two couples have bought adjoining three-bedroom homes at the front of the site, off Norwich Road in the town.  Both couples moved quickly when the site was launched, securing their homes on the very first day – a wise move as the initial release sold out in days. A second release of 12 new homes (of which five will be available on a shared equity basis) is due to go on sale in September.

Both sets of buyers are first time buyers, and both have benefitted from the government’s Help To Buy scheme to purchase their homes.

Ashley Peters, who runs a legal services business, and hairdresser Natasha moved into their new home with three-year-old son Joseph, having moved from rented accommodation at Norwich’s Queen’s Hills estate.

“We have fallen in love with Hingham,” said Ashley. “We didn’t really know the town, but when we came to see it, we quickly realised we wanted to live here. But the real attraction is the house itself – it has so much space, and the build quality is so much better than we have seen elsewhere.”

New neighbours Jamie and Sarah Wilson are of the same mind. Jamie, who is an occupational therapist in King’s Lynn, commented, “As we are starting a family, we liked the idea of village life, and Hingham offers everything you could ask for.”

Jamie’s wife Sarah, a surgical trainee at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital in Norwich, and who is expecting the couple’s first child in November, added, “We have been stalking Abel Homes for a while now. We love the way they include everything you need in the price of the home, and as a family firm they are really approachable.

“When we learned they were building new homes at Hingham, we pounced on the very first day they went on sale to ensure we secured one of the first new homes.”

Welcoming the two couples to their new homes, Abel Homes managing director Paul LeGrice said, “We are not surprised that people are clamouring to come and live here – Hingham is such a lovely place to live. Both Ashley and Natasha and Jamie and Sarah moved really quickly to secure their homes, and we expect a similar level of high demand when we release the next phase of new homes for sale next month.

“It’s lovely to come and meet the people who are going to live in our homes.  We have always said that our business is not about bricks and mortar, but about creating new communities, and we have started to do that in Hingham today.”

The new homes at The Hops feature an innovative design which has taken its cue from an award-winning Conran-designed development in Norwich, also built by Abel Homes.

The one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes on the site have been designed to be extremely energy-efficient, with air source heat pumps, solar photovoltaic panels, triple glazing and high levels of insulation. Each new home at The Hops will also feature fibre cabling to the premises, with a CAT 6 networking point in the living room. In addition, each home has a parking space and a garage with electrically-operated door.

The show home at The Hops is open Friday to Monday 10am-4pm; more details at www.abelhomes.co.uk
