Management Accountant
Abel Homes is an established, award-winning medium-sized housebuilder with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality homes across Norfolk. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive finance professional to play a key role in supporting the financial management of a dynamic and growing business.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of timely and accurate financial information, together with meaningful analysis to support effective decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, including supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Supporting with the delivery of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Monitoring and reporting on cash flow
- Assisting with company compliance (VAT returns, ONS surveys, Companies House filings etc)
- Supporting the year-end statutory accounts process and external audit
- Maintaining detailed site budgets, including monthly reconciliations
- Producing and developing KPI reporting to track business and site performance
- Providing cover for other finance team members where required
- Providing general support to the Finance Manager on an ad-hoc basis
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrable experience in a management accounting role
- Additional experience within an Accountancy Practice is highly desirable
- Experience within construction or housebuilding would be advantageous, but not essential
- Strong analytical capability and high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident communicator, with the ability to engage effectively across departments
- Proactive and organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Qualifications & Skills
- Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or approaching qualification
- Advanced Excel skills essential
- Experience using accounting software (e.g. Access Accounts, Sage 50, QuickBooks)
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be within a commutable distance of Watton
