Abel Homes Commissions New Public Artwork for Cygnet Rise, Swaffham

New sculpture announced as part of Abel Homes' long-standing commitment to creating communities across Norfolk

Abel Homes has announced plans for a new public art installation at its Cygnet Rise development in Swaffham, Norfolk, continuing a long-standing programme that has seen the Norfolk housebuilder commission public artwork at developments across the county since 2008.

The latest commission will be created by renowned Norfolk artist and blacksmith Toby Winterbourn and will form a focal point within the Cygnet Rise community, celebrating local heritage, craftsmanship and the importance of placemaking within new residential developments.

The sculpture, which will stand approximately 3.6 metres high, is scheduled to be installed later this year and will become the seventeenth public artwork commissioned by Abel Homes as part of its ongoing public art programme.

 Maggie Abel, Director of Abel Homes, said:

"We are delighted to be working with Toby for the first time, creating a truly stunning sculpture which will act as a focal point for the new community we are creating at Cygnet Rise.

Our aim for these artworks is that they will form the hub of these new communities, starting to bind the threads together through sparking conversations and giving a sense of shared ownership – as well as a focal point to stop and chat.”
