Work has started on the construction of 17 new energy-efficient family homes in East Harling – the second phase of a site which has already seen 85 new homes delivered.

Paul LeGrice, managing director of Norfolk-based house builder Abel Homes, joined site manager Luke Matthews to cut the first sod on the site, which is between Kenninghall Road and Quidenham Road, just to the east of the village.

The 17 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes will form the second phase of Abel Homes’ Three Squirrels development.  Twelve will be bungalows, a type of home which has seen high demand in the village.  Four of the homes will be provided as affordable homes.

The new homes will all have the top ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency and include features such as air source heat pumps, photo-voltaic solar panels, underfloor heating, triple glazing and high levels of insulation.

The new homes will also come with fitted appliances, air source heat pumps, electric car charging points, garages with electric doors, BT fibre broadband to the premises, and floor coverings included throughout.

“Our Three Squirrels site at East Harling has proven to be very popular, with the first phase selling very quickly,” said Mr LeGrice.

“We are delighted to be embarking on the building of a further 17 new homes on the site.  We already have a significant amount of interest in the second phase and look forward to releasing the first properties for reservation later this year.”

Details of the new homes at Three Squirrels in East Harling can be found at www.abelhomes.co.uk/developments/east-harling.  The show home and sales office are open Thursday to Monday, 10am-4pm.
